Chasing a leak nobody could find
Two previous contractors had patched where the water showed up. It was coming in twenty feet away, at a pipe boot nobody had lifted.
The problem
On a flat deck water travels. The stain on the ceiling tells you almost nothing about where it got in.
What we did
Flood-tested the deck in sections until we had it isolated, then opened up the boot and found the split. One properly welded target patch.
The result
Dry through the wettest month of the year, and the owner stopped paying for patches that were never going to work.
